Infrastructure at the North Bay Airport was planned, designed, and constructed to meet the rigorous standards and operational requirements of the Department of National Defence. The estimated value of the airfield infrastructure is well over $300 million. North Bay Airport has been exceptionally well maintained with capital expenditures for facility improvements averaging almost $1 million per annum.

A new control tower has recently been opened, runway and apron restorations are in progress, navigational aids are continually being upgraded, and a new passenger terminal building opened in 2002.
